SaveKarachi: An agent-based model to simulate stormwater drainage in Karachi's Mehmoodabad Nullah with policy implications

Description

The project is a simulation model of torrential rains and their impact on the Mehmoodabad Nullah in Karachi. It simulates how the government can take measures to stop the flooding in and around the Nullah, what the situation could look like, and how it could impact the area if relevant action is not taken in the coming years. This project is expected to: • Gather relevant data from different places and integrate it into a system. • Contribute towards identifying the gaps in our existing knowledge so that subsequent research could benefit from our work. • Analyze the model and build a case study in the form of a research paper draft. The output of my work would be a testbed that would be accessible to policymakers and urban planners so that they can explore different scenarios.
